History: Rolf Pilve is the drummer of Stratovarius, the legendary Finnish metal band spanning over two decades. Rolf is known for his musicality and versatility, having also performed with bands such as Miseration, Solution .45 and The Magnificent. He has played more than 500 shows in 16 countries and appeared on over thirty albums, demos and singles.
His musical journey began at the age of seven. His first professional breakthrough came in 2005 with Dreamtale and Sightless, recording an album with both bands while establishing himself as one of Tampere's busiest freelance drummers, performing everything from weddings and cover gigs to jazz while remaining true to his metal roots.
In 2006, at only 18 years old, Rolf joined Essence of Sorrow alongside Mikko Härkin, Mats Levén and Jani Stefanovic. The band recorded Reflections of the Obscure and toured Europe, marking his first international experience.
His collaboration with Jani Stefanovic continued in Miseration and Solution .45, featuring Christian Älvestam (ex-Scar Symmetry), while he also joined the progressive metal band Status Minor. Both projects received excellent reviews from the metal press.
Besides Stratovarius, Rolf has remained active as a session drummer, recording, touring and teaching throughout Finland. His extensive résumé includes Stratovarius, Solution .45, Miseration, Reversion, Timo Tolkki, Code For Silence, Status Minor, Beyond The Dream, Dreamtale, Sightless, Pulse – Tribute to Pink Floyd, Rock-It-Launcher, Crystalic, Section 8, Heikki Malmberg, Sweet Jeena & Her Sweet Hearts, Nousu, Kalevi Louhivuori and The Magnificent.
