History: Lauri Porra is a Finnish composer, bassist and musician whose family has produced professional musicians for four generations, including his great-grandfather, the legendary composer Jean Sibelius. His music has been performed by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra and the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, among many others.
Equally at home in classical and rock music, Porra has built an international career as a performer, composer and recording artist. In addition to his work with Stratovarius, he composes for orchestras, films and other media, while also leading his own project, the Lauri Porra Flyover Ensemble.
His critically acclaimed solo albums include Entropia (2018, with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra), Flyover (2015), All Children Have Superpowers (2008) and Lauri Porra (2005).
His orchestral works include Memento, Aineen ja ajan messu, Flyover Suite, Domino Suite, Kohta, Near & Distant and the bass concerto Entropia. He has also composed original scores for feature films including Heavy Trip, Lapland Odyssey 3, Look of a Killer, Off Key, Hijack Gone South, Rat King, Life for Sale and Vares: Dead Angel.
